Make smaller than expected Q1 PC market of Windows XP fall falls to strength

Data from tracking groups of PC market as expected in the first calendar quarter of point to a brighter picture 2014: Gartner estimates a Q1 decline of 1.7 percent in shipments of PCs; IDC estimates a decline of 4.4 percent .

Its forecast of a decline of 5.3 per cent exceeds this number of IDC.

Keep in mind that it, that generally expected that a victory is down for PCs. IDC in March predicted that in the year 2014, total contract would broadcasts by 6 per cent, so that his reported 4.4 percent fast decline in the Q1 2014 annually. Almost.

IDC what get before - sale weakness in emerging markets is not what drove band in the quarter. This is not to say that its care not pass (more common), but that instead something else ride come to the rescue: Windows XP.

Yes, Windows XP seems death sales finally go. IDC: "commercial update projects that had been already lengthy, received a last push by the impending end of the Windows XP support, particularly in Japan. In addition lower demand for tablets seems helped to limit earlier drastic cuts for notebooks." Windows XP helps in global markets so, finally the PC market and its components.

Still, as mentioned above, a problem keep emerging. IDC said that these "weak result" in the quarter posted, as expected.

Microsoft and Intel declined to comment.

Gartner cited also Microsoft's now locked operating system a positive driving force for sales: "end of XP support by Microsoft on April 8 has a role the easing decrease PC shipments." Gartner went on to call the PC market "weak" but "Showing signs of improvement."

Well and good.

The question is whether these numbers can maintain better than expected in the second quarter. Yes, I would bet, given the fact that Windows XP actually full support of Microsoft lost in the second quarter; What influenced the first quarter could the second be strengthened. What would be interesting is whether such short-term upswing could strengthen Gartner estimates a year compared to the previous year of positive growth in the PC shipments up to the point.

None of this is to say that the PC market has still weaknesses. Switching to Windows 8 by the industry is underway, better, build computer as Microsoft improved its operating system and OEMs more touch focus.

These data are better than expected, but a single quarter of decent news doesnt make any trend.
